Rocket Pool
Defi · Staking

Rocket Pool is the decentralized liquid staking protocol: the one where the validators behind your stake are run by thousands of independent node operators who posted their own ETH and their own collateral to earn the right, not by a permissioned list.

That structure is why rETH earned the trust it has. Node operators are bonded, misbehavior costs them their own stake first, and the token itself never rebases: rETH simply appreciates against ETH as rewards accrue, with the exchange rate written onchain by the protocol itself. Deposits flow through a pool with a hard, published capacity, and exits burn rETH directly against the collateral the contract actually holds. Every constraint is visible before you touch it.

Those constraints are also the work. The deposit pool that has headroom on Tuesday and none on Wednesday, so the entry you planned either goes through the protocol at the true rate or through the market at whatever the market feels like. The burn path that is only open while the contract holds enough collateral, which is exactly when everyone else wants out too. The exchange rate that grinds upward daily and rewards the person who compounds against it, not the person who checks it quarterly.

Every number Rocket Pool keeps about a position is a step in a plug: the rETH exchange rate, the deposit pool's live capacity, the collateral available for burns, and any one of them can decide what happens next. Staking and burning run when a condition is met rather than when a person is awake, and an entry or exit can wait for the protocol's own lane to open instead of settling for the market's price.

ETH staked the moment deposit capacity appears instead of the moment you notice it did. An exit burned at the true rate while collateral is there, not queued behind a crowd. A position that moves between rETH and everything else on the rate you chose, checked every block.

The rETH positions that outperform are already run this way. Capacity does not announce itself, and the true rate is only available to whoever is there when the window opens.
