Chainlink is the oracle network the rest of onchain finance settles its arguments with: the price feeds that lending markets liquidate against, that stablecoins hold their pegs against, and that years of securing tens of billions of dollars have made the closest thing DeFi has to an official tape.
Its authority is structural. Each feed is a decentralized aggregate of independent node operators reporting real market data, updated on deviation and on heartbeat, with every round recorded onchain where anyone can read it and no one can rewrite it. When a protocol says an asset is worth something, this is almost always where the number came from.
For a plan, that makes Chainlink the definition of truth worth acting on. The same price that decides whether a lending position gets liquidated can decide whether a plug tops up collateral first. A round's answer and its timestamp can gate any step: buy under a line, exit above one, refuse to act at all if the feed has gone stale. Conditions built on the canonical price are conditions the rest of the market is already obeying.
Every serious strategy is ultimately a set of rules about prices. Building those rules on the feed everyone else settles against means a plug fires on the same number the market does, at the moment it prints, with nobody watching the chart.
